Ron L. Deal is the Director of FamilyLife Blended®, a ministry of FamilyLife®, and is the author/coauthor of the books The Smart Stepfamily, The Smart Stepdad, The Smart Stepmom, Dating and the Single Parent, and The SmartStepfamily Marriage. Ron is one of the most widely read authors on stepfamily living in the US. He is also a counsellor who frequently appears in the US media, including FamilyLife Today® and Focus on the Family, and he conducts marriage and family seminars around the world.
At FamilyLife, we are very aware of the unique challenges faced by those in blended families.
Traditionally, when a couple marry, they come together as a couple first, and children are added to the family later. Within blended families, family comes first, and it can be very hard for a couple to ever have time to themselves. Their relationship can offen be subject to the needs within their complex family dynamics. The children also need help to adjust to the changes in their world.
